doc: Improve docs in start

Use ref for intra-docs links and add label in destination document.
Improve spelling, hyphenation, capitalization.
Separate units from values with a space.
Wrap long lines if no other changes in the wrapped portion.
Trim spaces at end of lines and convert tabs to spaces.
